Dynamics 365 FAQs

Microsoft rolls out ‘wave’ updates twice a year across Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform, bringing a host of new features and capabilities to the applications.

You can find the latest wave updates here:

Alongside the wave releases, regular incremental updates are made to the applications, to ensure your system is always up to date and working on the latest features.

If Dynamics 365 is hosted on-premises, it means the business purchases the software licenses and the database is stored on their server. This keeps all business data in-house and provides full control of how and where the information is stored. However, this does mean the business is solely responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the hardware.

Dynamics 365 Cloud/Online is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) application, hosted in the cloud. The data is protected by Microsoft’s secure servers, the solution can be deployed remotely, and no hardware is required. Additionally, D365 online is far more flexible in comparison to on-premise, as users can be scaled up/down easily, as well as having the ability to integrate with other applications simultaneously.

Dynamics 365 is part of the Microsoft eco-system, therefore it integrates seamlessly with the Microsoft 365 stack (Word, OneNote, SharePoint, Excel, etc), the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps) and other Dynamics 365 applications (Business Central, Finance and Operations, Retail, etc).

For most other business software outside of the Microsoft eco-system, Dynamics 365 can be integrated with, thanks to its open API.

Both Salesforce and Dynamics 365 have their individual pros and cons, and various reasons as to why you might be better suited to one, more than the other.

We have written a blog post comparing the solutions, which covers applications, deployment, pricing, integrations, ease of development and business intelligence capabilities. Read the full article here.
