Dynamics 365 and Power Platform – 2021 Release Wave 1 Timeline

Microsoft has now released the timeline for the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform 2021 Release Wave 1.

Each year, Microsoft delivers new capabilities in two six-month release waves. The last wave to be release was released in October 2020 (which you can read more about here), bringing hundreds of new and updated features to the Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform. Once again, this next wave will bring new functionality, rolling out from April 2021 until September 2021.

Key Dates Release Wave 1 2021

Release Plans

On January 27th 2021 the release plans will be published, detailing the initial list of features for Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform. This will also state any legacy features which might be deprecated, giving partners and customers early visibility to get ready for the upcoming changes.

Early Access

From February 1st 2021, early access will then be enabled to test certain capabilities in a sandbox instance, prior to being rolled out automatically in April 2021.

General Availability

Deployment of the 2021 Release Wave 1 will begin on April 1st 2021 and will continue until September 2021. A more detailed schedule of the rollout will be published nearer the time, which we will continue to monitor and update you on.
